TIERRA DEL SOL REC CENTER
SATURDAYS, 11:30am-12:30pm
The Enrichment Academy offers hundreds of special interest classes and courses. Because The EA compensates those who teach their classes, students must pre-register and pay to attend courses.
There are many daily free beginner line dance classes at various rec centers throughout The Villages, but they can be quite crowded and new students will share the floor with seasoned dancers. This can be intimidating to those who are just starting out.
My Introduction To Line Dance class is smaller, friendly, and informal, and everyone is starting together. In each six week semester, I teach many common beginner steps and several dances. The pace is slow and we do lots of repetition because the emphasis is on committing to memory the beginner steps that are the building blocks of line dancing.

Weekly Summary Spring/Summer Semester, 2022
Week 4: Our new dance this week is Lonely Drum EZ, which introduces toe struts and diagonal step, touches (these and other steps are in my tutorial video; click on the link in red above). We reviewed the one-wall version of Swingin' Thing, and also learned about "contra" dances.
Week 3: After Cupid Shuffle as our warm-up dance, we did one new dance called Second Step Blues, consisting of all step, touch patterns (in 48 counts, woo hoo!). Click HERE to see my demo and tutorial videos (no red footie). We also reviewed the one-wall version of Swingin' Thing.
Week 2: Lots of review of individual steps and one new dance called Swingin' Thing. Click HERE to see my tutorial video (no red footie yet).
Week 1: Our first class of this semester is in the bag! Thanks to everyone who came to the first class and congratulations for taking your first steps on the road to learning to line dance (click HERE to see my tutorial video of First Steps. Today we did several basic steps and three dances, including Cupid Shuffle. Don't expect to remember them all (or any!) until next week--we'll do them all again, and perhaps add something more if we feel we're ready.
Here's a photo I received from a student who's REALLY SERIOUS about practicing V steps in the kitchen <g>
